Another type of chicken fast food restaurant similarly to the KFC Fast Food restaurant. It has few different sets to be chosen from the menu. At my first visit at the Mid Valley’s branch, I did not know much about its menu so I followed my colleague to order the RM9.90 set.

It has 2 pieces of chicken (of course I will request for a breast meat, easy to eat without bones), a coleslaw, a mashed potato with shredded chicken with sauce, a bun and a soft drink of your choice. This is how the whole set looks like.

Something differently from the KFC is the mashed potatoes and the bun. The mashed potatoes is mixed with creamy sauce and minced meat. The bun is not a bun, it tastes more like a muffin than a bun.

This fast food restaurant can be found at Mid Valley lower ground. It is just next to the Domino Pizza. I am not sure if it is also available at other places.

Kampachi – Japanese restaurant at the Equitorial Hotel. I have tried few times at this Japanese restaurant and I am quite satisfied with this restaurant because of its reasonable portions and prices.

I ordered a bento set with some side dishes, miso soup, a main dish, rice and some fruits. I cannot recall the name of this bento set but take a look, it has a lot of things.

The main dish
Closer picture of the main dish of this bento set. It is mixtures of few different food placed in the plate.

One of the side dishes. All side dishes are varied and sometimes comes with different side dishes.

There was one time we ordered this Saba fish. It is a mackerel fish. It can be grilled with teriyaki sauce or cooked with soy sauce. Myy personal preferences is cooked it with teriyaki sauce. I feel the fish is quite big portion. I love it 🙂

I do not know what it called but this little fish is very expensive.

Golden Phoenix

Golden Phoenix is one of the restaurants inside the Equitorial Hotel. It is a Chinese restaurant that serves mainly the Cantonese food. I forgot if this restaurant is Halal or not.

I tried one time for its steamboat offer and another time for the dim sum buffet. Let us share with you the steamboat offer. The ingredients for the steamboat are similar to the normal steamboat that we eat outside. The soup based can be chosen from few different soups based.

But this steamboat offer is not an eat-all-you-can style. So, I felt it is quite little food to eat. They should allow people to replenish the ingredients. Furthermore, the ingredients do not cost much.

Siew kao or dumpling
The other ingredients for the steamboat.

This is all I have for the steamboat. Is it very little and not worth at all?

Golden Phoenix

Besides trying the steamboat offer, I tried the dim sum as well. It is more worth than the streamboat because it is an eat-all-you-can dim sum offer. Again, it is good to go with a group of people when you go for buffet dim sum so that you can try more varieties of food with minimal intake. Eating dim sum can be very filling.

Overall, their dim sum are quite nice and has its standard. Good to try out 🙂

Luk Yu Tea House

The Chinese restaurant – Luk Yu Tea House, at the StarHill shopping complex at Jalan Bukit Bintang. It serves the non-Halal Chinese dim sum and dishes. It is situated at the lower ground floor. The interior design of the restaurant is based on the old Chinese designs and it uses the chinaware plates and cups to serve the food.

The dim sum is quite nice and quite worth for money to try out. The dim sum that you must try out here is the char siew pao. The bun is soft and it is very nice to eat when it is hot. The sauce inside the char siew pao is nice 🙂

San Francisco

I went to the San Francisco restaurant at Mid Valley for few times and each time I feel very satisfying. The restaurant’s set lunch comes with a soup of the day, a bottomless drink and a main dish. The set lunch price is from RM16.90++.

The soup of the day
Each time I went there, they offered different type of soups.

The thick mushroom soup.
I am not sure what is the name of this soup.

The bread

It comes with some English bread and butter.

1 Foot Long German Sausage
I feel this 1 foot long German sausage is very worth for its price. The sausage is sandwiched between some spring onions and bread. The sausage’s skin is crunchy and the meat is juicy. Besides that, it also has some fries and garden salad at the side. Wow, I was very full after finished it. 🙂

Here is another main dish that my friend ordered, if I am not mistaken this should be a chicken chop.

Fish and Chips

Few months back, I went there again with my cousin and she ordered the steak set lunch.

However, on 1st April 2010, this restaurant at Mid Valley has closed down. I am going to miss its set lunch offers 🙂

Amarin Thai

I feel the Amarin Thai at the Level 2, Mid Valley is the Truly Thai Food restaurant. This restaurant gives me a real taste of Thai food and I personally like this restaurant more than the Rak Thai and Flying Chili’s at The Gardens.

So far, I have visited this restaurant for three times during the lunch time and I tried the set lunch during my first visit. The set lunch came with a drink, which I forgot its name and it tasted sour for me.

Then, the main dish. It has some fried cubed chicken meat in Thai style with a fried egg (sunrise) on top of the rice. Oh, if you feel you want to add extra rice, you can do so and it is free and unlimited scoop of rice.

Next, is the Tom Yam soup. It is very spicy for me but I do not know for other people. Inside this bowl of soup, it included the fish, squild and prawn. It is quite generous portion. Thumb up!

Lastly, the dessert which is made of chestnut and jackfruit (nangka). I quite like this dessert it is quite common in any Thai restaurants, unfortunately, I cannot recall its name.
