Purple Cane Tea House

If you are looking for Chinese tea house around Petaling Street, I have one recommendation. It is the Purple Cane Tea House which is located at Jalan Panggong. It is quite near to the Pasar Seni LRT station and it is somewhere behind the UDA Ocean near the MRT construction area. I hope it is still available. (Edited on 1st Jan 2014)

The shop is located at the 3rd floor of the old shop lots along the road. The environment at Petaling street branch is good for chit chatting with a small group of friends and you can choose to sit on the floor or on the wooden chairs. Students are the most commonly seen people followed by youngsters.

You can choose what type of tea that you like to drink and this is the presentation of the tea set. Common Chinese tea that you can find it here are Tie Guan Yin, Pu Er and Shu Xian.

If I am not mistaken, every patron to this tea house has to pay RM4.50 if you do not order any food or drinks. So, it is advisable to get at least a drink when you visit this tea house.

If you do not know how to prepare the tea, you can get the staff to demostrate once for you. It is pretty easy to do. You can refill the hot water as much as you like from the hot water dispenser. Let’s enjoy a cup of hot tea now!

Besides Chinese tea, they also have other type of tea such as green tea or the rose tea. I tried once for the Rose Tea and this is the presentation of the rose tea set.

Few dried rose buds and the teapot is using glasses. It looks quite elegant.

You can order cold drinks as well. The Grape Yolk Tea tried for once but I could not recall how it tasted.

I also ordered some snacks to eat while relaxing at this tea house. A bowl of tea eggs and the honey buns.

The honey bun is a bit oily because it needs to fry before dipping with honey.

The tea eggs are a bit over-cooked. Overall, the tea egg’s taste is still good.
