Cicerello

Cicerello’s Mandurah, WA.

I was very exciting to experience again eating fish and chip with vinegar and salt days before my departure to Perth for holidays. Since, we were making a pit-stop at Mandurah and Cicerello has a branch there, I suggested to my friends to have our lunch before continue our journey to Margaret River.
Cicerello
We ordered the family pack and shared among six of us. It was very big portion and lucky enough we did not order add on.

You must be thinking what does it consist right? Well, this family pack came with six battered fish, salt and pepper squids, four dim sims, four pineapple fritters, four crab sticks, four mini sausages and fries. It is really a lot of fried food.

This round, I was a little a bit disappointed with the food’s quality. I was not sure whether it was because it was too much or the food dropped its standard. I was not enjoy eating this fish and ship as how I did last time in Fremantle.

Canton-I

Canton-I

It was a farewell lunch of a colleague of another department and I joined in to have lunch together. The manager suggested to go to Canton-I after the first choice of restaurant was full house. Canton-I is just like any other Hong Kong style’s restaurants, offers mainly Hong Kong delicacies such as roasted pork, barbecue pork, wanton noodle and etc. At Canton-I, you can find roasted duck too.

I ordered the Shrimps Wanton Noodle and I tried to compare it with the few wanton noodles that I have tried in Hong Kong. The number of shrimps wanton is the same as the normal wanton noodle that we can find in Hong Kong. Four pieces of big shrimps wanton. It was fresh, crispy and well tasted.

Next, the noodle was a little to the disappointment. I expected it to be springy when it was served and will not turn soaked so fast. However, the noodle was a little soaked when it was served. The soup based was too oily and I did not try it. I ate quickly to avoid the noodle became soggy.

Someone told me before that the soup cannot be too hot as it will affect the noodle’s texture when it is served. So, is it true?

Yes, this is what I expected, see below:

I ate this wanton noodle at one of the restaurants in Central, Hong Kong. The soup was clear and just enough to soak the noodle and the texture of the noodle was springy.

Manhattan Fish Market

Manhattan Fish Market

It was a so-called team lunch with another colleague and my boss. We chose to order from the set menu for 1+2.

Mushroom soup
Manhattan Fish Market
Simple soup of the day. It was just nice and creamy.

Gummy Bear
Manhattan Fish Market
I have no idea what Gummy Bear drink is and a quick search from the Google, it shows me a cutey green creature. When it was served, it was in blue colour. I think it might be some cocktail drink… possible?

Salad

As our appetizer, it was just a normal garden salad with salad dressing.

Scallop Americana

Sweet and juicy scallops sautéed with capsicums with a hint of black pepper makes this a wonderful pasta to savor. It was a little oily as you could see the oil left on the plate after finished eating it. However, the taste was good and appetizing.

Fisherman’s Platter

Delight in a crispy whole fish or your choice between barramundi or tilapia, covered in savory Spicy Seafood dip, accompanied by the delicious Manhattan Flaming Prawns, Garlic Herb mussels and crispy whitebait.

It was very big in portion with rice, fries and vegetables too. It was very filling especially the fries and rice. The taste of this dish was average for me.

Tuck Shop

I was visiting Perth in October 2013 with a group of my primary school friends. It was a great time spent together as we did not have to keep rushing for the trains and buses because we travelled by rented car.

Our first stop upon reaching the city was The Tuck Shop. It was recommended by my friend’s cousin to have a breakfast. The restaurant is located at North Bridge.

We were well greeted by the waitress once entered the restaurant and we sat at one of the tables nearby their kitchen counter. The waitress got our drink orders first as we were not able to decide what to eat for our first breakfast in Perth.

After a while going through the menu ups and downs many times, I still unable to decide what to eat. While one of my friend has decided what he wanted and the rest wanted to share with their partners, I thought it would be better to get the waitress to recommend for me because the portion looks big for me.

Egg Scrambled with Organic Sourdough Toast
The waitress said the portion good enough for me. Two pieces of toast with generous amount of scrambled egg, put a little bit of pepper on top of the egg and it went well with the toast. I liked the scrambled egg a lot.

While my friends ordered, Chorizo with paprika potatoes, peppers, spinach onion and crispy pork belly with fried egg.

They said, it was very nice but I did not taste it. Same goes to Bruschetta with grilled bacon, goats curb, tomato, avocado and basil salad. I think it was great too! They talked about Australians like to have the poached eggs for breakfast and I saw in few breakfast selections, we could choose our favourite type of egg.

Another breakfast which has poached egg was Smoked cod, potato and leek baked with poached egg with cheddar toastie. I tried a little on this one and it gave me a very rich cheese taste. Everything comes with great portion and generous ingredients. It is very worthy to give a try here.

Besides that, they do offer pies and muffins.

As for the ambience of the restaurant was great. It is good for a small group of people going there for breakfast together. The interior decoration of the shop is creative.
