The Organic Soft Ice Cream – SoftBee.
It has a very nice and cute name for this shop which happened to pass-by when one of my colleague wanted to buy a pair of shoes. This tiny shop located somewhere around in MyeongDong, Seoul.
The most attractive part of this ice-cream shop is the honeycomb ice-cream. The below picture showed the smooth vanilla favoured ice-cream with one small cube of honeycomb on top of it. I wondered how it tasted because I was not the one eating it 🙂 I believe, I will have another chance to revisit this shop again and I will definitely give a try by myself.
Lots of honeycombs being displayed outside the glass door. It is very real.

The Library Coffee Bar
Weeks after its grand opening, I invited a friend to join me for a coffee break and try out this new brand (back then). It was located at Avenue K, KLCC. There was some crowd when we were there and we needed to queue up for placing our orders. When asked what was nice on the menu, the barista did not really give much suggestion. So, I simply picked something I seldom try, the Iced Hazelnut Latte.
And, yes it was not the best one. Maybe, I did not really drink coffee with hazelnut taste. It did not give a kick.
While my friend ordered a Mocha Latte. It was beautifully crafted. There were food on their menu too.
I cannot remember the name of this food. It was a combination of waffle at the bottom, some vegetables and cheese sandwiched with chicken and topped with sunny fried egg on top. So, what does it called? It tasted quite nice when I tried a few bites.
The overall ambiance of this coffee house was good and you could find some quiet corners. It has two storeys but I did not go up to see. The decoration of this place was quite similarly to The Library.
Location: Lot G-8B, Ground Floor, Avenue K, 156 Jalan Ampang, Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.
Ambiance: Nicely decorated, quiet if you can find a corner place to sit down, spacious.
Rating: 2.5/5. I liked the food more than the drink.
Caffe Pascucci (카페 파스쿠찌)
On my second day in Seoul, we met up at the lobby and headed down the road for breakfast. We stopped by few cafes before we ended up at this cafe. It was pretty crowded at 8.30AM. And, we sat at one of the corner before we placed our orders. It was my big breakfast, where I chose the Panini Toast Set with coffee. By default, they gave Americano, however, I ordered Coffee Latte with addition 500 won charges.
The Panini was super cheesy as you can see the cheese was melting onto the plate. It gave a lot of ham as well with egg. It was a very filling breakfast which I think it can be shared with two persons. It tasted good with the half toasted bread.
As for the Latte, it was great. I guess, it is best for me to drink Latte in the morning, when it brings up the best taste.
Since, we were about time to leave at 9.15AM to wait at the nearest train station, I quickly finished my breakfast and left the cafe with my coffee. We did not have much time to spare at the cafe. Walking toward the station with a cuppa of hot coffee during that time was pretty warm. It was an interesting experience as I have never tried to walk in the street with a cup of coffee. Haha.
Ambiance: Great place to be, even at the time we visited the cafe was crowded but, it was not too noisy.
Rating: 3/5. Superb breakfast, the services were still okay even though the cashier was not really able to converse in English. The waiting time for the food and drink at that hour was a little long due to the crowd, so if you are take-away, it might save your time.
Hollys Coffee, MyeongDong, Seoul.
I was in Korea for a week business trip. It was my first time travelling to Korea and I felt glad that I went with a group of people who have been to Korea before and we are able to travel without any problems.
Being in the city of Seoul, where the coffee culture is so strong. You can find many coffee houses or cafes along the main streets. Even the small roads, you can also find at least one coffee house.
I was brought to this cafe after a short walk in MyeonDong. I was not really sure which branch I went into as there are plenty of Holly Cafe in this area. It was located on the 2nd floor of the building. It has a pretty good interior decoration in the cafe and it was not crowded or noisy.
One of the special items that I found in their menu is the sweet potato coffee, which I hardly see it anywhere. However, I did not give a try. It was weird to me and I just had an ice-cream before that, so I was not really keen to give a shot. As normal, I ordered the Latte.
First latte in Korea and it was not same as what I usually tasted in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. It was slightly less taste but still acceptable and it warmed up my body.
It was not really expensive to drink coffee in Seoul. A cup of coffee could be ranging from 3500 won to 5000 won. There would be more write-up on Seoul City’s cafes introduction in the next few weeks. Stay tuned!
Hot Tomato, NEX, Serangoon
It was my first time visit NEX. It is a big shopping complex and it has a lot of restaurants to choose. I was here for dinner because of this restaurant was not having long queue at that time, around 7PM. I decided to go for the main set with add-on drink and soup of the day. Although, the queue was not long, the waiting time was a bit long. The drink and the soup took a while to be served after placed the order.
Iced Lemon Tea with Creamy Mushroom Soup
I liked the mushroom soup, it was creamy, thick and mushy and it always goes well with garlic bread. As for the Iced Lemon Tea was just normal, no additional comments for it.
Then the main dishes were included the Fish and Chips and Teriyaki Chicken Chop with Spaghetti. The Fish and Chips was garnished with cherry tomatoes and it looked slightly small portion because it was not whole fish fillet. I may sound greedy, however, its portion maybe just enough for kids.
Meanwhile, the Teriyaki Chicken Chop looked the same to me. It seemed that everything came in small portion and hardly satisfied the stomach. As for the taste, it was still acceptable. The Teriyaki sauce was enough for both of the chicken and spaghetti. It could not go without the sauce.
Location: NEX, 23 Serangoon Central Mall, #B1- 47, Singapore.
Ambiance: Spacious and noisy.
Rating: 2/5. Small portion and slight waiting time for food to be served.
Fish Head Noodle at Lot 10 Hutong was a new discovery by my aunt. She brought me here on one of the Sunday to try this noodle and according to her, she said it was great.
After checking out at the menu, we decided to share this noodle together. We ordered with the normal vermicelli instead of the thick ones.
The vermicelli absorbed the broth which contained tomatoes, preserved vegetables and spring onions. And of course, added some milk into the broth would bring out the whole Fish Head noodle’s taste to maximum.
The ingredients were generous enough, so it is quite filling even though it was shared between two of us.
Location: Lot 10 Hutong, Lot 10 Shopping Centre, Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.
Ambiance: Noisy place and can be quite crowded if going there during lunch time.
Rating: 4/5. Worthy to give a try although it maybe quite expensive.
Drury Lane Cafe
It was a quick catch up with my old college-mate who came down to Singapore for a week of training. It has been years since after our graduation. So, it was great to catch up with him. He wanted to go to a small cafe and have a great brunch.
I randomly googled and came to know this cafe, Drury Lane Cafe. It was a bit hard to find as I am not familiar with the place. Eventually, we found it and we ordered our brunch at the counter and moved to upper storey to sit down.
Smoked Salmon Sandwich with Mushroom
While I googled for this cafe, I came to know a lot of people recommended this Smoked Salmon Sandwich and I wanted to give a try and give my review. Indeed, it was great as per described by other bloggers or patrons.
Everything was perfect for me except that the toasted breads were a bit too hard for me. It was nicely done, tasted good and looked pretty healthy. And, do not look down at its portion, as it was very filling after that.
Hot Chocolate may not be my best choice because I usually go for Latte. For a change, I ordered the Hot Chocolate to warm my heart. It was nicely crafted.
It was a great day with my friend, we shared a lot of thoughts together. Great place, good food and companion.
Location: 94 Tanjong Pagar Road, Singapore
Ambiance: Quiet, spacious, nicely decorated.
Rating: 3/5. The food was great, services were good and ambiance was nice for chatting.
