Thai Express, Tampines One, Singapore.
Sa-nook! in Thai means to have fun. We want all our customers to have fun. It’s a mission we want to achieve.
The above statement is copied from Thai Express’ official website.
It is an authentic Thai cuisine restaurant that has branches around South East Asia.
We are here to celebrate one of our friend’s August birthday. It is an advance celebration with her and she chose to eat Thai food. When we reached the restaurant at 1.30PM, we were greeted by the waitress and we sat near the front counter and kitchen. It is again, another kitchen view.
We ordered our food and it was served after a while. Judging by the late hour for lunch, we did not expect it will take long to serve us, however, when my Phat Thai with Seafood was served, my drink was not.
It is a famous Thai fried noodle with shrimps, squids and fried tofu. It is not spicy because they separated the chili flakes from the noodle. The noodle was cooked al-dente, well-tasted, ingredients are fresh. The portion may look little, it is just enough for normal eater.
The birthday girl ordered the Khao Phat Supparod Talay (Pineapple Fried Rice with Seafood). From the picture, I see they put raisins, squids, shrimps to fry the Pineapple Fried Rice. The usual side ingredients, cashew nuts is a must.
My another friend ordered the Woon Sen Tom Yum Pla (Glass noodle with fish in Tom Yum soup). The clear based tom yum is really authentic. I tried one sip, it is really same taste as those Thai restaurants I tried in Kuala Lumpur. Same goes to the Tom Yum Kung (Tom Yum prawn soup).
It is really a satisfying birthday lunch with my friends, although, the waiting time was a little long. Well, it is still worth to try again here for the authentic Thai cuisine.
Location: 110 Tampines Central 1, #04-09 & #05-08 Tampines1, Singapore.
Ambiance: Quiet restaurant. Not too sure about the lunch crowd as I was sitting near the front counter, I was not able to see the interior and space inside the restaurant.
Rating: 3/5. Good place to try authentic Thai food. The service is a bit slow even at late lunch hours.
It is Swensen’s again! Well, it is very hard to find one back in Malaysia and we have one very nearby to my office at Tampines Mall. We went there for dinner this time, and there was a long queue as usual. We waited for a while before we got seated. And we got a seat facing the kitchen, at one of the corner seat. Good and bad, as you can see the food is ready but it is not yours!
I ordered my Root Beer that night 🙂
Creamy Mushroom Soup
My friend ordered this as his appetizer. It looks very yummy, right. A creamy mushroom soup. This is good enough to be main course.
We also ordered spaghetti, sadly I cannot recall its name. It could be shrimps with mushrooms spaghetti.
A gigantic burger with layers of juicy beef patty, chicken ham, turkey bacon, grilled vegetables, onions and melted cheese topped off with a fried egg!
It is a description copied from the Swensen’s website. I did not notice it has so much meat~ It served with fries and coleslaw. Slowly and surely, my friend can finish it together with the creamy mushroom soup. I really need to salute to him.
The service is a bit slow because of dinner crowd. The portion of the food is generous and maintains its standard. It is worth to eat here with a group of friends.
Location: Tampines Mall, 4 Tampines Central 5, #03-30, Singapore.
Ambiance: Crowded during dinner time, even I went for lunch time, however, the restaurant is very spacious. It is a great place to celebrate birthday because they do sell cake and on your birth date, you are entitle to get a piece of cake.
Rating: 4/5. Worth for the waiting time and long queue. Generous portion with good quality of food. Wide range of selection for food and desserts.
First time visit to the Hong Kong Dim Sum restaurant in Singapore, Old Hong Kong Kitchen. The restaurant is very hard to be located and it took quite long for us to figure out where it is located as the signboard was not helping.
When we reached the restaurant, there was a table of people started eating. We placed our order based on the menu and slowly enjoyed the rest of the time.
The drink is not included in the Groupon’s offer, additional charges will be billed. However, it is refillable. Besides that, using the voucher on weekend also charged extra surcharges.
The services and waiting time are on average as there were no crowd, the taste of the dim sum is average, believe there are some better ones. Out of so many dim sum we tried on that day, I think there are few which are quite nice and the rest were oily, I cannot remember which ones as it was three months back.
Ambiance: Very quiet restaurant, spacious, suitable for a big family.
McDonald’s is my all times favourite fast food option for breakfast in Kuala Lumpur. I love having breakfast at McDonald’s and can spent almost two hours sitting there, enjoying my breakfast, watching the world goes by and chit chat.
McSausage Muffin with Egg, Set 2
This is my favourite set and usually I will order an ala-carte porridge and eat with my aunt. I know I do not have to explain much on this set as many of us know, it comes with a cup of daily freshly brewed coffee. The great tasting coffee comes from Arabica coffee beans. It gives me a kick on my head. If you opt for tea, they are using Lipton’s brand. For coffee, you are free to refill umpteen times during the breakfast hours from 4.00 AM to 11.00 AM.
Fast, simple and satisfying breakfast.
Location: Ground Floor, Jaya Jusco Taman Maluri, Jalan Jejaka, Taman Maluri, Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.
Ambiance: Spacious, not crowded during the breakfast time. Sometimes it could be quite noisy as there are children playing and running around.
Rating: 4/5. Satisfying breakfast set with great coffee.
The second choice of fast food will be Long John Silver’s. For this set you will have 2 pieces of fried chicken or 1 piece of fish of your choice, some fries and a soft drink. The chicken or fish is fried until golden and crispy. It does not look very oily. They put some chili powder on top to make it tastes spicy. You can go without the chili powder as it tastes good enough.
They always serve the popping hot chicken or fish as though they fry the chicken or fish when you order it. It maintains the food quality well.
Location: Tampines Mall, 4 Tampines Central 5, #04-23/24/25, Singapore
Ambiance: Normal environment, clean, limited seating place during lunch time.
Rating: 3/5. It is worth to eat when it has promotion as the price is reasonable.
I am looking for something to post for this month of November. Anything that is fast and instant. So, fast food posts will be a great theme for this month. Top of my fast food chart is Popeye.
Fish Bites with Cajun Rice
I bought the Popeye’s Groupon voucher and got this promotion set that came with a drink. The fish bites are tasted okay, same standard as their chicken. I am not sure if they are selling chicken bites. The Cajun rice is tasted okay too, but just a little dry for me. I think they have other better options beside this.
Chicken Tender Set
It comes with two pieces of boneless chicken meat, a bun and fries. I like their fries compared to other fast food brands. Their mashed potatoes is nice too because of the gravy. But, I do not like their bun which is hard and rough, I prefer soft ones. This set comes with soft drink of your choice.
It is a big and filling.
Location: Century Square, 2, Tampines Central 5, #05-14, Singapore.
Ambiance: Spacious and won’t feel crowded during the lunch time.
Rating: 3/5. Worth to try if you are looking for fast food other than McDonald and KFC.
