Lenas

Lenas
After the previous visit last August, I went there again with my colleague on the night we finished work late. We walked one round at the lower ground of Tampines One and could not find a seat at any restaurants there.
Lenas
As we seated, we looked through the menu for quite long before we decided what to order. The food which we ordered is delicious and we enjoyed our food that night.

Location: #03-K1/K2, Tampines 1, 10 Tampines Central 1. Singapore.
Ambiance: Great atmosphere as usual, the place is spacious and it is not crowded when we reached at the restaurant.
Rating: 3/5. Although previous rating was 4/5, it is not because of the quality and service drop. This round the food is good too and worth for trying.

Luk Yu Tea House

Luk Yu Tea House

It is our late lunch at StarHill, Kuala Lumpur, after settled some banking chores in town.
Luk Yu
It has been quite a long time I did not visit this restaurant for dim sum. The table setting and tableware are remained the same.
Fried Carrot Cake
Luk Yu
It is aromatic and not spicy type of fried carrot cake although it puts belacan to fry it too. The taste is well controlled and it is not oily too.  The fried carrot cake is crispy from the outside and soft on inside.
Steamed Beancurd Rolls
Luk Yu
It is a delicious beancurd rolls with sweet sauce. Inside the beancurd is chicken and fish meat. So, it is good to eat it when it is still warm.
Steamed Barbecue Chicken Bun
Luk Yu
Go to any dim sum restaurants, barbecue bun is a must to order. The ingredients and sauce are the main keys for a barbecue bun’s success. This is one of the good ones. You can give a try too.
Glutinous Rice
Luk Yu
It is a bit salty for my taste bud, but ingredients are perfectly matched. It is pretty common ingredients where you can have chicken or pork meat, one sliced of mushroom, sometimes you might have Chinese sausage or minced meat.
Egg Tarts
Luk Yu
Lastly, I ordered the egg tart. It is just a simple egg tart and I think it is better to order others to try next time.

Location: Feast Village, Starhill Gallery,181 Jalan Bukit Bintang, Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.
Ambiance: It is very quite after the lunch hour. The restaurant is still serving dim sum even it is after lunch hour. The setting of the restaurant is very Chinese style and you can choose to sit inside or outside of the restaurant.
Rating: 3/5. The dim sum is still maintained its standard. Some of it are worth to order, especially the fried carrot cake.

Tai Ping

Tai Ping, The Royale Chulan Hotel Kuala Lumpur.

This is one of my favourite Halal Chinese restaurant in the KL city. It is located at the centre of the KL city, close to Pavilion KL and Prince Hotel.
Tai Ping
The restaurant is located at the 2nd floor of the hotel and it is very quiet, not crowded restaurant as compared to the coffee house at the ground floor. The restaurant is spacious and can accommodate bigger groups of people. It has private rooms too.
Tai Ping
I do not have any idea why there is no crowd at this restaurant for my few visits. I do not think that the food is bad and the price is still reasonable. The service, not to mention, it is best of all because they serve us only!
Tai Ping
Another good point to have lunch or dinner here is the house tea is free. I guess everywhere that you go to, there is a minimal charges for tea or even plain water.

Salted Fish and Silver Anchovies Fried Rice
Tai Ping
It is one of the best fried rice served in hotel. The chef knows how to control the fire and brings the fried rice to its top fragrant. It is enough ‘wok hei’ in Cantonese and it does not look oily. It comes with generous ingredients and the portion for small is good enough for 3 persons.
Tai Ping
Stir Fried Chicken Cubes with Cashew Nuts
Tai Ping
The ingredients include the cubed chicken meat with crunchy cashew nuts and crispy red, yellow and green peppers. The combination is just right. The taste is okay.
Deep fried Grouper Fish with Superior Soy Sauce
Tai Ping
When it is a deep fried fish, the level of freshness of a fish is always a question. As for this dish, I do not have any complaint. I like the sauce.

Location: The Royale Chulan Hotel Kuala Lumpur, 5, Jalan Conlay, Malaysia.
Ambiance: Quiet, private and spacious.
Rating: 5/5. I am very satisfied with the food I tried on both of my visits, even the most recent one (as the pictures are taken in Year 2010 and 2012). The chef is really doing a great job to maintain the standard of the good. It is one of the best Halal Chinese restaurant that you must try.

Chabuton

Last weekend was a wonderful weekend because it was my friend Matthew’s wedding in Kuala Lumpur. It was a simple-yet-grand wedding, I wish them a happy marriage! Also, at another side of the world, there was another wedding ceremony took place at Yorkshire, England, Jay Chou with his bride.

Okay, let us talk about food now. There are some backlogs for this month and I will try to finish it by end of this month.

I tried the Chabuton, prestigious ramen restaurant that shaken up Japan and Thailand. According to another blogger’s entry, Chabuton’s Chef Yasuji Morizumi, the world’s first ramen chef to receive a Michelin star, opens his second outlet in Singapore at Tampines 1.  (Quoted from http://www.alainlicious.com/)

I came across this restaurant by accident because of my friend who came to Singapore to visit and have lunch with me wanted to try this restaurant when we were heading to Thai restaurant. I did not notice the great story behind this restaurant until I start writing this blog. *paiseh*
Chabuton
Both of us ordered the same set lunch, the Chabuton Tonkotsu Ramen which comes with one side dish, dessert and drink. It is one of their signature dishes and it is recommended by their staff as well.

From its top view, you can see they put a lot of fried garlic and sesame. It does make it smell great and the aroma from the fried garlic makes it really the ramen to its perfection. If you wish, you can add more sesame too. If you wish to add spiciness into your ramen, you can add the kara spicy minced pork with minimal charges.

The broth is rich, so I believe it takes long hours to simmer this great broth. And, one good news, if you wish to add soup, you are freely request for more soup, and if you wish to add noodle, you can request too, at minimal charges. The ramen cooked al-dente. They give one sliced of char siew.

We ordered the Chicken Tatsuda Age and Gyoza as the side dishes. Both are recommended by the staff too.
Chatuton
The fried chicken is nicely marinated and crispy. however, I do not prefer the Gyoza. It is not up to an average Gyoza that we can eat it elsewhere. Although, the staff advised us to dip it into the three-mixed-sauces, still it does not up to a level.
Chabuton
There are other side dishes that you can add on if you wish too. Since, I thought it would be once and for all, we just ordered the Ajitsuke Tamago (Soft Boiled Egg) and Buta Kakuni (Braised Pork Belly). The soft boiled egg is a little disappointed because it is slightly over-cooked, however, the pork belly is great. I do not eat it normally, I just took a small bite to taste.

We complete our lunch with the dessert, mochi which comes with different favours. Overall, the food here is nice and there are some side dishes need to improve to make it more perfect.

The restaurant is a great place for family and group gathering because it is spacious. The staffs are very attentive and give us a lot of suggestions and asked for our feedback too. It is worth to give a try and definitely will come back again.

Location: 10 Tampines Central 1 #02-09/10 Tampines 1 Singapore.
Ambiance: Level of noisiness is minimal, spacious and you can feel private too when it is not crowded.
Rating: 4/5. The signature ramen is prefect, just need to improve on the side dishes to make it 100% perfect.

Pasta Zanmai

Pasta Zanmai, Mid Valley, Kuala Lumpur.
I just realised that I did not write enough review for Pasta Zanmai which was first introduced by my brother. He asked for a dinner at Pasta Zanmai in Mid Valley sometimes back in Year 2011.

I was introduced to this yummy-licious restaurant and fell in love since then. It is because of their set meals which allow us to try many different dishes. Here is some of the set meals that I tried so far.

For the first visit, we tried these sets:-
Mini Ebi Ika no Spicy Pasta with small mushrooms, prawns and squids. I like this pasta, cooked al-dente.
Pasta Zanmai
Mini Chicken Onsen Tamago Pizza
Another good try is this pizza with half-cooked egg at the middle of the pizza.
Pasta Zanmai
Kaki Kimuchi Pasta. I hope I get the right name, it is a soup based pasta where they use the kimchi broth.
Pasta Zanmai
Tori Karaage Garlic Rice It comes with four pieces of fried chicken breast meat. The fried chicken is well-marinated before fried. The garlic fried rice is aromatic and it comes with some salad. It is not very oily meal.
Pasta Zanmai
For just two set meals we got so much food on our table,
Pasta Zanmai
We also ordered the Itachoco Monaka a biscuit with vanilla ice cream and chocolate fillings. I guess we just too greedy for our first visit. However, do not worry, this set meal portion is not big. You can finish it by yourself or share it with another person.
Pasta Zanmai
Months later we try again at this restaurant. We tried another two different set meals. Another soup based pasta that we tried, Mini Asari Wafu Soup Pasta uses the mini shortneck clam. The soup is nice.
Pasta Zanmai
Mini Kani Avocado Gomadare Pasta consists of crabmeat and avocado. It uses the sesame sauce as the based of the pasta. It has a strong sesame taste.
Pasta Zanmai
Mini Unagi Omi Rice. It is a garlic fried rice topped with roasted unagi and omelette. It served with miso soup.
Pasta Zanmai

And, we ordered the same pizza again,
Pasta ZanmaiPasta Zanmai gave me the best memories of all restaurants in Mid Valley. Here is the place where we celebrated the best moments together, even farewell also held it here and some occasional lunch with friends. Other set meals that I have tried,

Secret Recipe

Secret Recipe, Jusco Maluri, Kuala Lumpur.

I went back to Kuala Lumpur for Christmas last year and spent a week with loved ones. I feel very happy when I returned home and spent such a long time with them. It is more happier because I did not bother much about my work. It is a real holiday.
Secret Recipe
I went for lunch with my aunt at nearby shopping center. We ordered the set lunch, the Vietnamese beefy noodle and Western chicken chop with mushroom sauce. It comes with a drink of your choice.

Vietnamese Beef Noodle
Secret Recipe
The beef noodle’s soup is great and aromatic. How to make it? It consists quite a lot of ingredients such as sliced beef, meatballs, some bean sprouts and lots of fried onions. It makes the noodle good.

Chicken Chop with Mushroom Sauce
Secret Recipe
The chicken chop is tender and goes well with the amount of mushroom sauce given. They have black pepper sauce too. The plus side, they give sweet corns. It comes with a small portion of rice, not plain rice.

All set lunch comes with a drink of your choice, and I chose A&W soft drink with cost RM4.00 if you buy separately from the menu.
Secret Recipe

Location: G19, Taman Maluri Shopping Centre, Jalan Jejaka, Taman Maluri, Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.
Ambiance: The restaurant is quiet, not crowded. There is limited number of seats in the branch. The service is fast and the waiters are responsive.
Rating: 3/5. The lunch set is quite nice and worth to give a try. Even if you do not like the set lunch offers, the ala-carte  menu does offer many other dishes. Both of our choices taste good.

A&W

A&W, Dataran Pahlawan, Malacca, Malaysia.
This fast food outlet is getting lesser and lesser in Malaysia. I missed the chance to have it in Taman Jaya. I tried it again in Malacca’s branch. It is quite a lot of people still liking A&W and there was a birthday party on the night I visited the fast food outlet in Dataran Pahlawan.
A&W
Coney Dog Set
A&W
Each time visit A&W, either I will choose the coney dog or the waffles. For dinner, I go for Coney Dog set with curly fries and root beer. I did not add float ( ice cream ) but they are  kind enough to add for free ^^ ( It was added by accidentally ).
A&W
It is very satisfying eating it, you can choose either to have chicken or beef for the burger and drinking the cold root beer. Full, very full, I wish to go back for waffle on another day.

Location: BD-007 & BD-093a. Dataran Pahlawan Melaka Megamall, Jalan Merdeka Bandar Hilir Melaka, Malaysia.
Ambiance: Spacious outlet and not crowded even through that night this outlet was having a birthday party.
Rating: 5/5. Maybe it is a little expensive to eat here compared to other fast food such as McDonald and KFC. However, the unique part of A&W is the root beer, where only here served the best root beer. Some people said that their fried chicken is also nice besides the waffles and coney dog.
