Singapore Laksa

Address: Broadway Food Centre at the junction of Tyrwhitt Road and Horne Road, Singapore.

The Laksa smells good every time passed by this stall runs by an uncle alone. With some fish cakes, tau pok, cockles, quite fresh and clean, generous noodle and extra umphh with sambal, it looks spicy yet it is not. It is rich, filling, delicious and satisfied. If you are not very hungry for lunch, it is a good choice, otherwise, you can try his famous mee sua or handmade meatballs noodle which is great too. I will cover it next time. Stay tuned!

Chicken Rice

Address: Happy Hawkers, #01-273, 132 Jurong Gateway Rd, 600132, Singapore.

It is located just right behind the Food Clique and it is my second visit to this chicken rice stall after my accidental discovery that it sells chicken rice at cheapest price. It has roasted pork and barbecue pork as well. I guess usually people will order a combination of different dishes. It comes with a small bowl of soup as well.

I pretty enjoyed the chicken rice here and would like to visit again whenever I am in Jurong East. It is cheap, filling and tasted good, that is important.

Baja Fresh

Address: 9 Bras Basah Road, #01-03, Singapore 189559.

Baja Fresh Mexican Grill Rendezvous Gallery.

My cousin brought me to try the Mexican food which is located at the Rendezvous Hotel at Bras Basah Road. It is my second try for the Mexican food in Singapore, my first try was sometimes ago at the West side, after my marathon with my running kakis.

I ordered the combo set which comes with two taco of my choice. I chose to try the Baja Style with Baja rice and beans. The taco filled with salsa, onions and cilantro. You can choose between the original or crispy type for the wrap or both. With the combo set, you can add-on for a glass of soft drink.

Each order comes with a pack of nacho and free flow of the sauces and salsa from the counter. Both of the types of the salsa are nice.

I chose the crispy taco for a try and it turned out to be messy. I would recommend you to go for the normal or original wrap. The rice and the beans are good, cooked healthily and generous in portion. Overall taste is pleasing and interesting.

My cousin ordered the Baja Burrito. We were surprised when it was served. It was a fresh hand-made guacamole & pico de gallo wrapped in a warm flour tortilla with spicy chicken. It is nice, delicious and interesting taste of the green paste, the guacamole.

We wrapped our lunch with churros served with chocolate syrup. Sinfully dessert of the day but they are very satisfying dessert. We joked the churros are the Chinese’s yao tiao.

It gives me a chance to try eating healthily and also get to learn some Mexican words:
1. guacamole is an avocado-based dip, spread, or salad.
2. pico de gallo, also called salsa fresca, is made from chopped tomato, onion, cilantro, fresh serranos, salt, and lime juice.

Aqueen Hotel Lavender

Address: 139 Lavender Street, 338739, Singapore.

The hotel’s coffee house often do promotion for set lunch and this visit, it was a buy 4 free 1 offer. And, it has been a while we did not visit this restaurant for lunch. Their menu changed for this visit. They used to serve the coffee and tea, however, right now they serve soft drinks only.

The set lunch comes with a bowl of soup which we can self-service from the counter and a pudding dessert. They have improved their mushroom soup’s quality with additional mushrooms inside the soup. Last time, we always think it their mushroom soup is made directly from the canned soup. At least for now, it made some effort to make the soup better.

My main course for the day is the pan-fried salmon in teriyaki sauce with mashed potatoes and salad with Japanese dressing. It looked pretty well presented. The salmon itself is well-tasted, not over-cooked and if you want extra taste, teriyaki sauce goes well too.

By the way, today is Valentines’ day. Wishing everyone has a great evening on this special day!

Bigmama Korean Restaurant

Address: 2 Kim Tian Rd, 169244, Singapore.

Friday’s night, after working for a day, I asked for a dinner at Tiong Bahru, Singapore. Bigmana Korean Restaurant is one of the recommended restaurants to try in Tiong Bahru based on the online bloggers.

Without hesitation, my friend joined in. We walked from the MRT station to the restaurant which took us about 10 minutes walk. There was no queue when we reached the restaurant, however, the main shop was full with people. According to my friend, the restaurant expanded and they are now taking over the next door as well.

It is ran by a native Korean, so I believe the quality of food will maintain. For two of us that night, we ordered two dishes to try.

Our table was full with food when it was served. We ordered the seafood pancake and the Teokbokki. It comes with side dishes as usual for a Korean restaurant.

The main dish of the night was our choice, Teokbokki which is one of the popular traditional Korean food which comes with rice cake noodle cooked with fish cakes, eggs, vegetables and instant noodle.

The chili broth is not spicy although it looks red. For normal people, it should be just alright. Just remember to turn off the fire after a while so it would not over-cooked.

The Buchu Jeon, the Korean pancake made with chives and shrimps. The waiter apologized us because they missed our order and later, realized it and came to inform us they would serve in short while. I did not notice it was missed order, however, the pancake should not take too long to serve.

Along with the side dishes, it made my day to the fullness. No doubts, Korean side dishes are always most satisfying me and I liked all of them most of the time when I visited any Korean restaurants.

The night wrapped up with a beautiful night view that I never seen before from this angle. If there is a chance, I would love to come here again for the food and the views. It is a good place for dating with the night views 🙂

감사하니다.

Leo and Aquarius

Susan Miller says,
As you begin the month, you will be thinking in terms of “me,” for the lunar eclipse in Leo will make it so. Later, as you will see, at the February 15 eclipse in Aquarius, a sign six months away from yours, you will be thinking in terms of “we.” When we see Leo and Aquarius emphasized, there is always the meditation about how much of me will I have to give up to have the privilege and bond of we. You have nothing to be concerned about – you’ve thought about this before, and the fact is, you can have both in the right, loving proportions. When there is care for the partner on both sides, both individuals flourish.

Eclipses in your own sign and opposite sign (in this case Aquarius) only happen every nine years or so. When a new series of eclipses start up, such as this one, in Leo and Aquarius, they remain in the same signs for two years, coming by every five-and-a-half months as a pair, two weeks apart. The ones after these this month will come July 27 and August 11.

Ponder Eventful Last August

Susan Miller says,
Think back to the eclipses that occurred in 2017 on February 10 (highlighting Leos born on August 14, plus or minus four days), and the next two that arrived August 7 and 21, ones that may have highlighted your birthday, plus or minus four days. Do you recall anything important happening on any one of those three dates? Of course, if August 7 or August 21 is close to your birthday, you were sure to see many changes in your life start to happen almost immediately. An eclipse opposite your Sun, in Aquarius, such as the one you will have February 15, if it touches a degree in your chart, would have just as powerful an effect too.

Events back in August 2017:
Aug 27: A friend from Seoul visited me and we spent some time together at Telok Ayer, Singapore.
Aug 26: SQLSaturday event at Microsoft, Singapore. I met a person who used Fitbit as well and we talked for a while during the break. Unfortunately, I did not keep in touch with him even I took his name card.
Aug 25: Celebrated birthday together with August and September babies.
Aug 24: Complimentary drinks from Starbucks.
Aug 22: These stories are giving me a lot of illusions and false hope that it works for us. Anyway, I am glad to see you tomorrow if I am required to attend the meeting.
Aug 20: Celebrated birthday together with my cousin and my aunt at East Coast, Singapore.
Aug 18: 16 people lunch together gathering for my birthday with healthy food. It is a blessed moment. One said, you just joined 4 months only, everyone comes to join your birthday lunch.
Aug 16: I’m extremely happy when my colleague shared us a word from our big boss. Project W’s owner likes our teamwork and asks not to change this team at all. Thank you team!
Aug 13: I have been worked almost 7 days a week for past 3 weeks to meet 2 projects’ due dates (developing concurrently).
Aug 6: Worked on the poor ERD.
Aug 4: Some colleagues say, I have two boyfriends named WY and Win. I’m thinking I’ll get a real one pretty soon!!
Aug 2: How am I supposed to answer my client when client asked, “How hard is it to comment out the extra parameters and upload it to AWS?” and I know the code has been changed by CTO yesterday and I haven’t tested it.

Indeed, these were the things that changed me a lot. For all things I did in past 6 years, it just happened to me within four months in the new environment. I am looking forward to February 15.
