Yesterday, I posted a status on my Facebook asking if any shops are selling Hong Kong-styled polo buns with slices of butter instead of char siew filling. It looks as below picture:
A polo bun is a kind of sweet bun predominantly popular in Hong Kong. It does not traditionally contain pineapple; rather, the name refers to the look of the topping that resembles the texture of a pineapple.
A food blogger shared ten (10) shops in Singapore that sell good polo buns. Most of the shops are located in City Centre, making it hard for me to have one without travelling down to City. Refer to the link in the reference section below.
Tai Cheong Bakery at Tampines
It sells polo buns with char siew filling; it is not what I wanted to get yesterday. I tried their egg tart and coconut tart some time ago and compared them with SII Muffin.
So Good Char Chan Teng
Based on Google reviews, this restaurant sells polo buns with sliced butter as its filling. I may visit the restaurant one day when I need to head to the city. The rating is 3.6 stars.
I can get the buns with a cup of drink as set too. Some reviews shared the polo bun tastes lovely sweet, and salty. Also, the butter melts in the mouth.
Address: So Good Char Chan Tang, 13 Stamford Rd, #01-17/18, Capitol Piazza, Singapore 178884.
