Breakfast in Tasmania

During our stay in Hobart, Tasmania, we did not even go to any cafes for a breakfast because we have a cozy kitchen and great chef who prepared the breakfast every morning. Most of the days, I prepared my own breakfast which consists of bread, hard boiled eggs and a cup of hot drink, either the tea or hot milk.

Cheese and Ham Sandwich
Yea, probably the presentation of this sandwich may not look appealing. I placed few sliced of hams, some butter and topped with a piece of cheese. It would be great if I heat up the oven and toast the sandwich for a while.

Hard Boiled Eggs
With some salt and pepper, it completed my daily breakfast.

Coffee
My friend recommended me to try this brand of its chocolate and coffee drinks. I took the coffee to try, it is quite nice and rich taste. You can drink it cold from the fridge or you can heat it up using the microwave, both tasted good.

Plain Yogurt with Strawberry
On my last day in Tasmania, I managed to open the tub of yogurt and took some of the cut strawberries and put into the bowl together with the yogurt. The colour looked great, white and red. Both go well with each other.

It is not expensive to prepare your own breakfast in Tasmania. A big loaf of bread which we can get in the Coles or Woolworths will cost less than $3.00, their dairy products are generally quite cheap and a box of 12 eggs cost $3.00. These easily can last you for a week or more.

Old Chang Kee

Old Chang Kee, Chicken Porridge.

When it comes to the old label, Old Chang Kee, many of us surely tried all their fried food especially their curry puff. I like their curry puff too, occasionally we will order it for party or any other occasions. Also, I love the Old Change Kee, chicken porridge with the yau tiao. It is a breakfast set and always sold-out early.

The porridge is well tasted but I feel it would be better if they can adjust the amount of the white pepper in the porridge or put it as an option for people to add it if they want to at the counter.

The hot porridge mixes well with sesame oils and white pepper and eat it with the yau tiao, a Chinese fried dough, as you can see the long fried stick on top of my porridge. Dip the yau tiao into the porridge and it will become soften, easy and delicious when you bite it. It is a filling porridge or breakfast meal which it worthy to buy for breakfast and you can have late lunch.

Wheeler’s Yard

Wheeler’s Yard, Singapore. After lunch what to do next is cafe hopping. It is the culture here too. Let’s try this place if you’re cyclists because they have a workshop behind the cafe selling bicycles and all its equipment and accessories.

At the cafe shop, they serve both breakfast and lunch meals and snacks that you can sit there for hours with friends and families. They have all the big tables and cozy corners. Food is said to be great for some of them and we tried something.

We are here for drinks and desserts. This time, we try the soda drink, the Orange N’ Cream and Root Beer.

The desserts is the main order for today, the waffle with vanilla ice cream and banana. Eat it with the caramel sauce.

We added the mashed potatoes as well, it is very greedy to eat so much especially after the lunch. If I can use the words, smooth and silky for the mashed potatoes, then it applies to this one, although it is slightly oily.

Killiney Breakfast Set

Killiney breakfast with hot tea and, kaya and butter toast as breakfast. It is one of the normal breakfast choice in Singapore where they offer most of the common Singaporean breakfast selection. It is located everywhere in the Singapore Island.

A comment from my friend saying that the hot milk tea looks like tomato soup. Haha, it is a huge differences. Have you tried yours lately for breakfast?

Breakfast at IKEA

IKEA Restaurant – Tampines, Singapore.

On the day, after I submitted my blood for test in order to renew my work permit, I hopped on to the free bus to IKEA at the Tampines One. It was 9.00AM in the morning and there was no queue at the bus stand. My left hand felt so weak and I was really hungry for food. No many eateries in Tampines One is ready to serve the customers.
IKEA Restaurant
Hopped on to the bus was a good choice as I did not have to walk all the way back to my house to prepare my breakfast or buy my breakfast from the opposite block. And, I found they offered free coffee for early birds. All patrons who pay their bills before 10.00AM will get free coffee of the day. Everyone was greeted with the same messages from the cashiers.

I ordered the French toast with baked beans and a sausage set. Simple breakfast. Since, I could not move much with my left hand, I settled down at one of the closest table to the coffee counter, just next to a couple with two kids. The kids are cute, a boy and a girl with their parent.

I am not lonely eating in the restaurant, anyway. Hahaha 🙂

Grub

Grub: Food that we serve our own FAMILIES

Brunch time. It is the Grub breakfast set comes with a cup of coffee or tea or canned drink. You can choose between the chicken cheese or the garlic thyme pork sausage. It comes with scramble eggs with grilled focaccia, mushroom and salads. It is a big breakfast.

I like the way how the mushroom is cooked. It is really delicious. Put some scrambled egg on top of the grilled focaccia with some mushroom, then topped with the sausage and sauce then put all of them into my mouth. Superb!

By the way, I just search what is actually focaccia? And results return saying it is more like a pizza. The bread tastes with salt, is not like the normal bread and it has the chewy texture.

An achievement unlocked for today, I tried to drink black coffee with a little sugar. I have cut down my intake on sugar for quite a long time. This breakfast set comes with black coffee instead of white coffee. It tastes bitter to me and I feel hard to adjust. I will try again next time.

Big Breakfast

Making my own big breakfast at home on a lovely Saturday before leaving the house to meet my friend later in the afternoon. I was a little big shock to see my wholemeal breads grew some fungus on it after expired for two days.

To play safe, I removed the affected parts and placed it on the hot pan to toast it. Sorry, I do not use toaster. After about 3-5 minutes, I removed it from the pan and placed my ham on to the pan and spring some mixed herbs on top of it to make it more aromatic.

And, lastly I fried an egg. Tada, my big breakfast is ready,

It can simply safe me S$3-4 for a breakfast outside.
Happy Saturday.
