The Wonder Kafe or Wondermama is located at the Avenue K, near KLCC, Malaysia. I went there for late lunch with a friend quite long ago and now just realised that I did not write anything about it. Since it has been so long ago, I could not remember much of the taste of the food and the names too. Just able to share some great pictures of the food that we tried together.
The entrance of the cafe is nicely decorated and it is nice to take pictures there.
They used some of the old styled or designs utensils and decorations.
That made it because a little unique and people can experience some old taste. We ordered the Iced Tea, and they served in this old designed mug.
For food, this is called Mee Siam which is fried meehoon with some chicken fillets, eggs and vegetables. My friend was having it for her lunch.
We ordered two desserts which one of it I pretty like it, the Waffle Vanilla Ice-cream with Sliced Banana. It is very filling if not mistaken.
The other dessert that we tried was a dessert with marshmallow.
It is a really great to have tried few different desserts when you have a partner who likes dessert! If you happened to be at Avenue K, you can try out this cafe and share with everyone.
Address: G-6, Ground Floor, Avenue K, 156,, Jalan Ampang, Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.
Tai Ping, The Royale Chulan Hotel Kuala Lumpur.
This is one of my favourite Halal Chinese restaurant in the KL city. It is located at the centre of the KL city, close to Pavilion KL and Prince Hotel.
The restaurant is located at the 2nd floor of the hotel and it is very quiet, not crowded restaurant as compared to the coffee house at the ground floor. The restaurant is spacious and can accommodate bigger groups of people. It has private rooms too.
I do not have any idea why there is no crowd at this restaurant for my few visits. I do not think that the food is bad and the price is still reasonable. The service, not to mention, it is best of all because they serve us only!
Another good point to have lunch or dinner here is the house tea is free. I guess everywhere that you go to, there is a minimal charges for tea or even plain water.
Salted Fish and Silver Anchovies Fried Rice
It is one of the best fried rice served in hotel. The chef knows how to control the fire and brings the fried rice to its top fragrant. It is enough ‘wok hei’ in Cantonese and it does not look oily. It comes with generous ingredients and the portion for small is good enough for 3 persons.
Stir Fried Chicken Cubes with Cashew Nuts
The ingredients include the cubed chicken meat with crunchy cashew nuts and crispy red, yellow and green peppers. The combination is just right. The taste is okay.
Deep fried Grouper Fish with Superior Soy Sauce
When it is a deep fried fish, the level of freshness of a fish is always a question. As for this dish, I do not have any complaint. I like the sauce.
Location: The Royale Chulan Hotel Kuala Lumpur, 5, Jalan Conlay, Malaysia.
Ambiance: Quiet, private and spacious.
Rating: 5/5. I am very satisfied with the food I tried on both of my visits, even the most recent one (as the pictures are taken in Year 2010 and 2012). The chef is really doing a great job to maintain the standard of the good. It is one of the best Halal Chinese restaurant that you must try.
UrBean, Avenue K, Kuala Lumpur.
Long hours chat with friend on mid-week public holiday at this tiny cafe located in this shopping mall, Avenue K. It is always good to talk with great people, exchanging thoughts. Both of us chose latte, and did not order any food or finger food during our visit.
It is something extraordinary. The taste is acceptable, with the smell of Cinnamon or other spices.
If you do not prefer those spices smell, I would suggest you to drink the normal Latte or other type of coffee.
The environment at this restaurant is nice and great place for chit chat. Although the cafe is quite small, it still can accommodate about 20 patrons. They do sell cakes and other main courses.
Location: C-14 Avenue K, Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.
Ambiance: Nice, quiet at times and comfortable to sit here for long hours.
Rating: 3/5. Good place to spend your time with a book or chit chat with friends.
I was at Avenue K, Kuala Lumpur during the Deepavali’s public holiday with my friend. After chatting for hours at the Urbean, we moved Sushi Zanmai for dinner. We took quite long before we could decide what and where to eat because we are not familiar with this area.
We ordered three dishes and shared among us.
Karaage Chicken Donburi
It is a deep fried chicken meat with soy sauce coated with seasoned flour. It is quite common food you can find in Japanese restaurant. It looks appealing and tastes good. The sauce can mix with the Japanese rice when you eat it. If you want extra sauce, I would suggest you to put the Teriyaki sauce.
It is a delicious savory pancake that is simple yet filled with a lot of shrimps, covered with dried bonito flakes on top of the pancake and mayonnaise and some Japanese sauce called Okonomiyaki Sauce. It is really nice.
Lastly, we ordered the Saba with Teriyaki Sauce. It took quite sometime before it was served. The fish portion was just nice for two person. I prefer it has more sauce since it is cooked in Teriyaki style. It does not come with rice, so you can order separately if you wish.
Saba with Teriyaki Sauce
Well, Sushi Zanmai is still maintaining its standard for this visit. I am satisfied with the food that we ordered and the time spent together.
Location: Lot M-19, Mezzanine Floor, Avenue K, Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.
Ambiance: The atmosphere of this restaurant is a bit noisy, probably because we was sitting near the kitchen. Overall, the restaurant is spacious, clean and bright.
Rating: 3/5. Food quality remains the same for me. The taste is good. The price and portion maintain reasonable.
The Library Coffee Bar
Weeks after its grand opening, I invited a friend to join me for a coffee break and try out this new brand (back then). It was located at Avenue K, KLCC. There was some crowd when we were there and we needed to queue up for placing our orders. When asked what was nice on the menu, the barista did not really give much suggestion. So, I simply picked something I seldom try, the Iced Hazelnut Latte.
And, yes it was not the best one. Maybe, I did not really drink coffee with hazelnut taste. It did not give a kick.
While my friend ordered a Mocha Latte. It was beautifully crafted. There were food on their menu too.
I cannot remember the name of this food. It was a combination of waffle at the bottom, some vegetables and cheese sandwiched with chicken and topped with sunny fried egg on top. So, what does it called? It tasted quite nice when I tried a few bites.
The overall ambiance of this coffee house was good and you could find some quiet corners. It has two storeys but I did not go up to see. The decoration of this place was quite similarly to The Library.
Location: Lot G-8B, Ground Floor, Avenue K, 156 Jalan Ampang, Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.
Ambiance: Nicely decorated, quiet if you can find a corner place to sit down, spacious.
Rating: 2.5/5. I liked the food more than the drink.
West 57th St Cafe (Zang Toi Cafe)
I was invited by a friend to go to this cafe for a tea break. My friend said the cafe has a nice cake that I must give a try. Oh… really? Ok, let’s go!
When we reached the cafe, there was few people in the cafe, we chose a quiet corner place to sit down and enjoyed our tea break. We ordered their tea time offers in which we chose our preferred tea and it came with a peice of Rock Bun and Banana chocolate cake. Yes, my friend wanted to introduce me to this banana chocolate cake.
Banana Chocolate Cake
It was rich with chocolate and sandwiched with raw banana. Well, it was so rich and each bite was full with the chocolate and banana taste. So, it is good to slowly eat and spare your time there.
And, what is Rock Bun? We were quite curious to find out and the tea time offered this as well. Here you go, this is how Rock Bun looks like :
It does look like a scone to me and when we cut it into half, this is how it looks like inside:
The rock bun’s taste a little dry for me with some raisins inside and marmalade. The great day completed with our preferred tea. I chose Mint tea while my friend chose Peach tea. It was a great tea break together. Thank you.

The Restaurant MinMax is located at PNB Darby Park, somewhere behind the Tabung Haji at Jalan Tun Razak. It is a halal dim sum restaurant. It was my first time visiting to this restaurant.
During the lunch time, there are quite many office workers having lunch there. Besides dim sum offers, they have other main dishes and set lunches as well.
This time my colleagues ordered some dim sum to try and ordered a set lunch consisted of 5 main dishes and 1 bowl of soup.
Siew Mai & Har Kau
I don’t remember if this is the deer’s meat pot.
Vegetable with prawn
Seeing these big prawns, I’m sure it should be nice and fresh. Yes, it’s fresh big prawn and the amount of prawns that they give is quite generous. It is Kai Lan with big prawns.
I don’t know what the soup’s name it is but it is really nice. Of course nice right when it is double boiled? Drink it while it is hot.
For me it is nothing much to comment about, just normal type of food.
