It is my second visit to this cafe which is located near to Lavender MRT stations and closely nearby to other famous cafes such as Chye Seng Huat Hardware and VXX Cooperative at Foch Road.

It was an unusual evening for my friend to off work before 7pm for her shift. She called for dinner and I suggested to meet up at Lavender MRT station. I brought her to this quiet cafe which I discovered with my colleagues days ago.

She ordered the Cottage Pie and I ordered the Aglio Olio with Bacon for myself. She liked it. I liked mine too. Simple, small portion and delicious. It allows us to have some snacks or desserts after the main course. That is the main purpose.

We ordered the fried sweet potato as snacks. It looked like overly fried when it was served. The lighting at the cafe at night it slightly dark and it may not be suitable to take great pictures of the food.

The atmosphere in the cafe at night is slightly noisy than the afternoon time as there are more people visiting the cafe, however, it is a great place to have dinner for two, chill out with couple of friends, enjoy the music and the cozy environment.

So, if you are planning to bring your date out, do consider this cafe for a good dinner without burning your wallet.

After a Vietnamese lunch nearby this cafe, my three colleagues and myself wanted to have something sweet for the day and we ended up at this cafe, Wimbly Lu Chocolates.

The location of the cafe is surrounding by those budget hotels and other famous cafes such as Chye Seng Huat Hardware, Tiramisu Hero and VXX Cooperative which is located at Foch Road and it is not far from the Lavender MRT station.

We ordered the Lemon Meringue Pie and the Waffle with Single Scoop Ice Cream. I could not remember the name of the ice cream but they do have have rum and raisin ice cream as they serve alcohol.

The crispy and hot waffle topped with chocolate syrup and a scoop of our choice of ice cream, which tastes similarly to the butter cookies is really nice and satisfying. I just feel I want more waffles!

For the beautifully presented Lemon Meringue Pie, it is mild sweet, just nice and acceptable. We liked both of our desserts.

The atmosphere in the cafe during our visit was quiet and there was just a few people only. Low noise, cozy, and relaxing ambiance. I almost wanted to apply work from home but continue to stay in this cafe to do work. I am not sure if Wi-fi is provided, maybe can check it out next visit.

It is definitely a place to be recommended.

Another try of the Vietnamese food at this authentic Vietnamese restaurant which is located at Foch Road, next to VXX Cooperative cafe and the famous pig organ soup shop.

The setting of the restaurant is authentic with low height’s tables and chairs. They are famous for Vietnamese BBQ. During lunch time visit, there is no people around except my colleagues and myself. I think they are doing night business more than the afternoon session.

The beef pho has the almost equal quality with the beef pho at Mrs. Pho. The soup broth is good but they added some pepper into the soup, it gave extra kick. I am not sure whether it is original.

The noodle and ingredients are generous, the price is same as Mrs. Pho and if want to compare with Mrs. Pho, perhaps, Mrs. Pho will be the better choice for me.

I supposed to attend the community event organized by CodingGirls in last June but I was late, therefore, the 2nd part of the event where there was a data analysis talk has been taken up. I did not find the rest of the talks would interest me, so I skipped the second session. I just stayed for the 1st session whereby many ladies shared their working experiences and journey to be a developer, entrepreneur and a successful lady. After the 1st session ended around 1.00PM, I headed down to Raffles City Shopping Centre to meet up with my cousin and my aunt for late lunch. They like Japanese restaurant, so we decided to go to Menya Musashi after did some rounds at the basement of the shopping for our food.

The set which I chose was heavenly good, worthy and delicious.

I ordered the premium set which included a bowl of the Chashu ramen, karaage chicken, a chawanmushi, salad and a glass of drink.

You can choose type of the ramen, thick, thin or matcha noodle. You can choose the soup based too, original, garlic and spicy. Also, you can choose to have fried gyoza or karaage chicken.

My ramen was using original soup broth, thick ramen and it has 1 piece of the chashu only with some shredded wood-ear, half egg, seaweed and some pickles. If you order the Chashu ramen set, you will get additional 4 pieces of meat without the karaage chicken and chawanmushi. It depends on your preferences.

The drink is refillable and you can choose between hot or cold houji cha, plain water or other drinks with additional costs.

The lunch is filing, sumptuous and worth to try. You may want to avoid fried chicken cutlet if you don’t want to eat oily food.

For the first time I organized the team lunch for my team, thanked to my boss who assigned me to take this role from my colleague who is now my ex-colleague. With a specific amount of budget, we are still able to enjoy a beautiful western lunch with a group of 10 people. It was a farewell lunch too with my ex-colleague which I planned on the last week before last day of service.

While I thought they would try the restaurant’s recommended, famous and popular waffle fried chicken and pancake, it seemed that they are not really keen into these “famous” and “popular” food which most of the food lovers go for. Lucky enough, the restaurant serves more than waffle fried chicken.

I googled the restaurant and someone recommended to try their buttermilk biscuit bread. I tried the Egg Benedict because I want to try their buttermilk biscuits. It is slightly salty for my taste bud. It was filling with two poached eggs on top of the thick chicken ham and buttermilk biscuits.

However, the guys in my team needed more or bigger portion of food. It is American food, the portion seems big to me, hahaha…

Soufflé De Nuage
The fluffy egg soufflé on top of the thin layered of the tomato fried rice with ham and mushroom. It has plenty of thick ham on the right side and I hardly see any mushrooms in the fried rice. It is slightly imbalance.

Overall, it is a delicious, worth to try and very filling because it is slightly creamy too.

Original Soufflé Pancakes
It is a regular plain pancake, very thick, soft and not very fluffy as I expected. The maple syrup and the pancake blend well and the whole piece of pancake is not too sweet.

It has been two months I stopped writing food reviews and it is time to resume and put up some nice photos and some reviews about the food which I have tried so far in the month of June.

Firstly, I would like to share with you a worth-to-try premium set from Menya Musashi. It is a Japanese restaurant located at Raffles City shopping center. The premium set which I ordered is called Cha Shu Ramen.

The Chashu ramen, karaage (fried) chicken, a chawanmushi, salad and a glass of drink.

You can choose type of the ramen, thick, thin or matcha noodle. You can choose the soup based too, original, garlic and spicy. Also, you can choose to have fried gyoza or karaage chicken.

My ramen is using original soup broth, thick ramen and it has 1 chashu only with some shredded wood-ear, half egg, seaweed and some pickles. If you order the Chashu ramen set, you will get additional pieces of meat without the karaage chicken and chawanmushi. It depends on your preferences.
