The Nasi Lemak Pizza, a locally inspired, nasi lemak favor pizza. You can try this pizza at DePizza, which situated next to the Singapore River at Raffles Place. The restaurant is on the second floor facing the Singapore River.
The pizza comes with sambal paste as the sauce base of the thin crust pizza. So, it is a little bit spicy for some of the people. It topples with cucumber slices, some chicken meat, slices of an egg, and some anchovies.
According to a food blogger, the homemade sambal sauce was impressive, that is quite okay. The blogger mentions that “the fragrance of the pandan and coconut cream was also strong enough to cut through the denser cheese.” I did not entirely agree with it because I did not get the taste of having some coconut cream together with sambal paste. I am not sure whether the cheese has overtaken the pandan and coconut cream smell. Besides that, the waiter took very long to serve us the Nasi Lemak Pizza. I think they need to improve their services a lot.
We ordered the mushroom-based pizza that is most likely is a vegetarian Additional order is the truffle fries. The texture of the fries is quite hard, maybe it deep-fried too long. It did not taste good, and it was such a waste with truffle on top of the fries. Maybe, if you can find a pizza crust from the supermarket, you can do it yourself at home.
This experience made me recall the days when I was in Tasmania, where I bought the pizza dough and made my pizza. If I can find the thin pizza crust from the supermarket, I am sure I can try to make a pizza with my oven. It is because the ingredients used to make these pizza seem to be simple, just like the mushrooms pizza below. I quite like this pizza as compared to the Nasi Lemak pizza.

Sunday’s afternoon lunch meet up with my great “brother” in Singapore. I met up with my friend who treated each other like brother and sister after a short chat in FB messenger whereby I told him about an IT event on-going. We met up at Raffles Place MRT where it was most convenient place for both of us to meet up, as I was coming down from the East and he was taking the Red line from the North.
Before that, I purchased the Groupon’s voucher of SGD$20.00 worth of value which we can order two sets of soups and we saved about few dollars each person. It is always good to check out the great deals online before we head off to the restaurant.
I ordered the roasted pumpkin soup with a tuna mayo bread. It is one of their set with bread. Instead of bread, you can choose to have sets with salad too. My friend chose to eat the minestrone soup with salad. The portion of our food is quite big portion which comes with bread, salad and rice. Besides that, the set meal comes with a drink of your choice too.
The pumpkin is rich source of minerals like copper, calcium, potassium and phosphorus. Pumpkin seeds indeed are an excellent source of dietary fiber and mono-unsaturated fatty acids, which are good for heart health. That day, I was still having the cough and flu. After having the pumpkin soup and hot black tea, my flu was getting better than the days before.
It is an healthy meal of the day with great set meal offer which I see its benefits more than other things.
Nam Nam Noodle Bar
I was brought to try this Vietnamese restaurant by my cousin. It was the first time I stepped into Vietnamese restaurant after the closure of the Vietnamese restaurant in Mid Valley, Kuala Lumpur few years back.
I ordered the basic dish to try, Pho with chicken. Wow, the broth was so aromatic, strong with spices and it wasn’t oily. It tasted good but I don’t know how authentic it is. Satisfied for my first time experience. Worthy to give a try.
You can eat with sauces available on the table which I do not know if it is suitable to put into Pho. I tried with its original taste. The Hoisin sauce is the most commonly I saw but have not given a try at all.
This is a set meal which comes with a drink of your choice (either Vietnam Black Coffee, Vietnam Coffee with Condensed Milk or Lotus Tea).
The Lotus tea was aromatic and nice to drink when it was hot. I did a quick research on lotus tea and it said that lotus tea can help people to feel calm and de-stress.
Interiors of the restaurant. There are plenty of 2-seated, 4-seated and 6-seated tables. It was pretty crowded during the dinner time, so be earlier to avoid long queue.
Location: #B1-131, Suntec City Mall, 3 Temasek Boulevard, Singapore.
Ambience: Crowded and quite noisy.
Rating: 4/5. Pho is very nice, aromatic and satisfying. The food and drink and services are good and waiters are attentive. Worth to try.
Just wanted to find a place to have a drink after the late lunch at Suntec City’s Food Junction and we bumped into the Toast Box. It was tea time and they were offering the tea break set which came with a Ham and Cheese Toast with a hot drink of your choice. I chose to have Hot Tea.
I quite missed the days when my aunt prepared the ham and cheese sandwich for my breakfast. The toast was great and the hot tea was satisfying. Maybe, you would like to request for less sweet but I am alright with the level of sweetness as I quite needed it.
Location: 1 Raffles Boulevard, Suntec City SICEC, #B1-126/127 (Tower 5)
Ambience: Noisy and crowded.
Rating: 2/5. Satisfied with the toast and drink. However, the area was too noisy to spend more time sitting down.
