On the Raya day, I went out to Bugis and stopped by at Old Chang Kee in Bugis Junction to get a curry puff. It has been very long I did not eat their curry puff and they are selling few other favours too, one of it I saw was the nasi lemak puff. It does look odd to me to give myself a try. So, I decided to try their chicken puff, away from the traditional curry puff. For something non-spicy, this chicken puff definitely is a good choice. Inside the puff, it is filled with generous ingredients and the savoury taste of the sauce made it tasted good.
And that made me think of the days when I was working in Tampines and I walked across to the Century Square to get a pack of chicken porridge as my breakfast.
Finally, I did that this morning, I bought a pack of chicken porridge with a bag of yaotiou. It is a traditional Chinese breakfast to have porridge in the morning. I felt it was a blessing that Old Chang Kee still selling porridge. It is only available in the morning and always selling fast.
This time, I did not get it from the same old place at Century Square. They have moved since after Century Square renovated. Now, they are at the Tampines MRT station, conveniently located next to the MRT station, along with Cheers at the traffic light.
This is definitely one of the good choices for big and economic breakfast of a day. Do be there early to get your porridge as it is selling fast at times.

With the points from the 365 Health App, I converted the points into vouchers of Simple Wrapps which I can get a salad or a wrap of Chef selection. I ordered the Journey to Norway from the menu. Based on the website, the ingredients for the salad are romaine lettuce and Mesclun leaves, smoked salmon, beetroot, capsicum, cherry tomatoes and broccoli. The vegetable is fresh and I did not put any dressings. It is an healthy choice for a day.
Handmade Noodle Ban Mien, Kapitans by Koptiam Foodcourt, 10 Tampines Central 1, #05-05/06/07 Tampines 1, Singapore 529536.
One of my favourite stalls in the Tampines One’s foodcourt during my days working at Tampines. The handmade noodle is always long queue during the lunch hours, even during the weekends. I joined the queue when I visited the food court today.
The noodle is cooked al-dente and the ingredients are generous so far, no complaints even after about a year or so I did not eat it. There are many choices to choose from their menu and you can combine with different type of meats.
Do try the dry ban mien which give you a different taste of eating ban mien. Of course, their soup based ban mien is always a good choice especially during a rainy day.
I added the chilies paste into my dry noodle which gave me an extra kick. Their chili paste is a must to try and when I mix it with the thick dark soy sauce, it gave a good blend. You may want to adjust the level of spiciness because the thick dark soy sauce is sweet.
Old place, old taste. I am glad to finish my brunch with full satisfaction.
Since there is a pasar malam at Tampines Central and I invited my friend to come over after her working hour to join me for dinner and a drink to talk about our lives. I suggested her to have dinner at few restaurants in Tampines Mall and Tampines One. And, in the end, we chose to pick some local food from the pasar malam.
It has been umpteen years I did not eat Ramly burger. It is not an healthy food. I do not even remember when was the last time I tried the Ramly burger when I was a student in my home town, Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.
There are two stalls, one at each end, selling the Ramly burger and we simply chose one which ended up queuing for more than 30 minutes to get 3 burgers. The cook prepared the burgers in batches, each batch his team and himself can prepare 32 beef and chicken patties.
Next, we bought six takoyaki with mixed favours. Somehow, I feel this takoyaki does not worth buying at all.
Thai Milk Tea
It is not as sweet as the normal Thai milk tea we usually can get from the Thai restaurants or those stalls in Bangkok, Thailand. It is slightly diluted and I find it just nice because I do not take much sugary food.
That night, our topics of gossip included stories about our normal day to day lives, work and people. Interestingly, I shared about someone I liked again (I used to like). Since, I was quite busy with another project and my previous group of teammates have not been making their stories about the client and me, things seemed back to normal. Moreover, the family trip with my friends to Tasmania and Melbourne in September gave me a strong influence that I need to find someone into my life. I am grateful the illusions and feelings which confused me back in August to October has gone. Although, I have been opened up to look a guy, a life partner after joining a seminar organized by the New Creation Church for Singles, I think it is something I can slowly work it out.
Old Chang Kee, Chicken Porridge.
When it comes to the old label, Old Chang Kee, many of us surely tried all their fried food especially their curry puff. I like their curry puff too, occasionally we will order it for party or any other occasions. Also, I love the Old Change Kee, chicken porridge with the yau tiao. It is a breakfast set and always sold-out early.
The porridge is well tasted but I feel it would be better if they can adjust the amount of the white pepper in the porridge or put it as an option for people to add it if they want to at the counter.
The hot porridge mixes well with sesame oils and white pepper and eat it with the yau tiao, a Chinese fried dough, as you can see the long fried stick on top of my porridge. Dip the yau tiao into the porridge and it will become soften, easy and delicious when you bite it. It is a filling porridge or breakfast meal which it worthy to buy for breakfast and you can have late lunch.
Black Pot Noodle at Tampines Mall Kopitiam.

It has never been failing to satisfy my craving for a hotpot of ramen. I usually visit this Taiwanese food stall in Tampines Mall Kopitiam to have my ramen. I love their broth for the ramen and the texture of the noodle is springy type. At times, they will have promotion as well for different set of meals.
For this visit, I wanted to eat rice with the fried fish because I am getting back my appetite to eat after having a week of flu and cough. The fried fish is rather smaller this time. It comes with some vegetables and half hard-boiled egg.
When it comes to rice set, the soup is not spicy compared to the ramen in which you can ask for more spicy soup. Another difference is for rice set, they add the glass noodle into the soup and it makes me feel very full after eating them. It is one of the worth to try food in this food court.
Recently I have been trying a few of the hawker food and I would like to share some of them here.
Kang Le Fried Prawn Noodle, Changi Village Hawkers Centre, Singapore.

The hawker centre is full with people during my visit on one sunny Saturday after my marathon. When I approached this food stall, there were six plates of fried prawn noodle in queue. The cook prepared all the fried prawn noodle at one go for seven portion including mine. At first, I am a bit worries about the quality of the fried noodle because he cooks in big portion. When the fried noodle is served, they put the chili paste and it is superb as per said by auntie, his wife. She said the chili paste is homemade and she even told the foreigner the chili paste is better than other chilies. I’m not sure if it is home made or not.

Although I feel its slightly pricey for a bowl of noodle which some minced meat, fish cakes and fish balls, I feel satisfied for having a bowl of hot soup after a long day in the cold office. The soup broth tastes normal in the beginning and as it cooled off, I am able to taste the sweetness of the soup broth. I almost finished the soup. The uncle cooks with care as how I see him cooking for the first two customers.

Our colleague wanted to try this food stall which offers TWC Raclette Chicken which waited for an hour. The making process is more interesting than the chicken itself. The amount of cheese on top of the chicken chop is just right, however, the overall taste does not really match or blend well.
