Cucina Italian

First time to explore this new shopping centre called, Aperia Mall which also has office tower that houses some big companies such as Intel, McDonald’s (according to a website’s information, https://ordinarypatrons.com/2014/10/01/aperia-mall/). This shopping centre is not crowded with people at the moment and there are plenty restaurants around.

The first restaurant I tried is called Cucina, an Italian restaurant which is located at the 2nd floor of the shopping centre. During our visit, they were doing the 1-for-1 promotion and five of us tried their promotion offers and ordered other side dishes too.

Their dishes do not come with drinks and we have to order our own drinks, and even if you choose to have plain water, they do charge for plain water.

Duck Confit – gently sumptuous duck leg with berries sauce infused. Among all the dishes that we ordered, this is the nicest. The duck meat and the sauce go well together with the rest of the side vegetables.

Grilled Salmon fillet with special cocktail sauce. It is another nice main dish which we ordered, however, the fillet is quite small. It would be better if they gave us a bigger piece, judging by the price they charged us.

Grilled Ribeye with red wine sauce, tastes normal when I compared it with the above two other dishes.

Pizza al fruitti di mare – mussels, prawns, squids and tomatoes. The pizza is very cheesy and the ingredients are not many. I am not sure if my portion of pizza do not have all the ingredients on top of it.

Parma ham rolled is the starter which we ordered. I was told that it is a must to try when visiting an Italian restaurant.

Overall, the food here is still okay and acceptable for a try.

Fish & Co

Fish & Co, the seafood restaurant that serves mostly all the seafood cooks in Mediterranean style, according to their website. Besides seafood, their menu includes chicken too.

Some introduction copied from the hungrygowhere’s description,
…the simple practices of South African fisherman; who caught seafood fresh from the seas and cooked them immediately in the pan.

It was a busy and tiring day on the 18th September. There has been a lot of things happened on the same day and I called for dinner with 2 other colleagues as it was dinner time when I wanted to leave the office.

We took quite sometimes before we placed our orders. We ordered the whole restaurant! We ate like a king and queen.

I ordered the Grilled Salmon came with 2 side dishes of my choices, the rice and coleslaw. I did not like the rice, it is not my liking but I would not waste food, still finish the rice. The coleslaw is same as any other coleslaw. Maybe next time can try mashed potato. The grilled salmon tops with customised lemon sauce. It is best to eat the salmon fast as the pan gets cold quite fast, then salmon will not taste good. The soup of the day is seafood/fish chowder. Nice try as I top up with purchase of a mocktail, Lychee Mojito. Oh, not to forget the fried calamari. Perfect dinner!

Ichiban Sushi

Ichiban Sushi

My cousin, Jennifer Lam, an international photography awards winner has invited me to try this Japanese restaurant which is located at AMK Hub for dinner. She told me this Ichiban Sushi’s food is nice to eat and worth to try. Since we returned from Japan, we quite missed Japanese food, so this was a good decision to go there for dinner.

As she was the first one to reach the restaurant, she started to queue there around 7.30PM while I rushed back to AMK from work. When I reached at the restaurant located at Level 2, the queue was pretty long already.
Ichiban SushiAfter some 20 minutes of waiting, we were served and seated near the window’s area. It was pretty hard to decide what to eat, so we just ordered hot green tea first.

Finally, I simply picked 2 plates of sushi from the menu to try out.

Chasoba and Katsu Don Wazen

I ordered Chasoba and Katsu Don Wazen as my main course. I think I have not gotten over with the cold soba yet. I wanted to reminisce the Japan cold soba that I tried. This set came with chicken katsu don. It is a combination of rice and noodle and you see how big the portion is. Guess, I was too greedy back then because the set also included a bowl of soup and fruits.

Following the actual cold soba eating, I added some wasabi into the soy sauce before I dipped the green soba into the sauce. It would be very yummy if the soba was colder. Then, the chicken katsu don were yummy too but it was a little dry for me. The rice and chicken portion was generous enough. It was just like 1.5 of its size. I think I was really greedy back then!

I was trying hard to finish both of it but I failed to finish the soba as I did not want to waste the rice so much.

My cousin ordered the salmon set which consisted of raw salmon and grilled salmon. Her portion was good enough and it was not heavy as mine. Her set came with a bowl of chawanmushi and fruits.

It was really satisfying dinner but sadly, I could not finish my soba and rice. I will not order so much next time. By the time we finished our food it was around 9PM and we took a walk around the mall before going back home.
