168 Claypot Chicken Rice

I was in Kuala Lumpur recently to attend a meaningful ceremony and sort out some of the stuff at home. I managed to try some of the good recommendations from the bloggers and Google reviewers from Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. One of them is the famous claypot chicken rice stalls at the kopitiam called Satu Enam Lapan (168) at Pudu, Kuala Lumpur.

If you know where the Maybank Pudu branch is, the stall is located next to the kopitiam.

It was 8PM when we arrived and ordered our food. Hungry!

The Google rating is 3.9 stars.

Charcoal cooked claypot rice with chicken, Chinese sausages and salted fish topping. Dark soya sauce was enough to cover the rice, and my claypot was not overly burned (the layer of crisp rice on the bottom of the pot, fan jiu in Cantonese) as some other people mentioned in the Google review. Then, it was not very oily as well.

Handcrafted by experienced hands of 2nd generation Cantonese chef family of fame in this part of old KL. His mastery over 40 years shows up in a delightful serving of fragrant rice with yummy charred bits and succulent chicken breast marinated to its peak.

Each rice are lightly coated with dark soy sauce, well tasted, and the fragrance from the salted fish bites makes the whole rice so delicious. The chicken is well marinated, so it is tasty. Overall, the claypot is not salty, even with salted fish. They gave me plenty of chicken meat, but I could not remember if I ate Chinese sausages.
